Welcome to Lone Stone Farms. We are a mixed farming operation located 1 hour north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. For nearly 30 years both Lonnie & Karen have worked full time on the farm where their entire income is made off agriculture.
Karen spent her childhood following her Dad (Evan Roberts) around the farm learning and developing a love for cattle. Evan has been a Polled Hereford Breeder for nearly 60 years. In the early 1970’s Simmental Cattle came to the farm and most of Karen’s 4-H projects were Simmental influenced. Lonnie & Karen were married in 1981 (Lonnie being a local farm boy who loved cows) and took over the Simmental herd in 1983. Evan brought in Red Angus Genetics in 1987 and eventually sold the herd to Lonnie & Karen . Currently we breed 300 breeding females and crop 1500 acres of land.
Our children Nicole and Nathan are so fortunate to have a farm heritage. Nicole is married to Tim Shepperd and is a French Immersion teacher in St Paul, AB. They have presented us with our first grandchild, Easton, on November 3, 2010. He is highly entertaining and we couldn’t love him any more than we do. Nathan is attending his second year of university in Ashland, Wisconson where he is working on a business degree. He is playing on their Division 3 hockey team and for the first time this year their ball team. |
